What is pharmaceutical care? Pharmaceutical care is the responsibility of service providers of drug / pharmacy staff until the expected impact of improved the quality life of patients (Helper and Strand, 1990). Pharmaceutical care can also be interpreted as a form of direct service to consumer medication in establishing, implementing and monitoring the use of drugs to produce specific outcomes. What is the purpose of the pharmaceutical care? From the definition, we know that pharmaceutical care implemented to people to understand more about drugs and getting adequate information about the drugs.
The scope of pharmaceutical care must be implemented within of the health care system that oriented to the patient. The scope of pharmaceutical care include the responsibility of pharmacists in ensuring the availability of drugs and medical equipment, ensure the quality of a given drug is safe and effective by taking into account the uniqueness of the individual, ensures users medications or medical equipment to use with the best possible way, and together with other health workers responsible for producing optimal therapeutic outcomes. (Dra Retnosari Andrajati MS.PhD, january 2009.)
But, whether pharmaceutical care has been undertaken by the pharmacist? Whether the implementation of pharmaceutical care in Indonesia is evenly? How about the eastern area of Indonesia and the other one that is still very less number of pharmacist? This is what I thought, because I am from eastern of Indonesia that I think the pharmaceutical care is very lack. I saw people came to the dispensary, and the service they got really very lack, only buying and selling without complete information from the pharmacist.

Before I learned about the pharmacy, this problem is something usual for me, but after I know, it's very sad if this matter continue. Then, what should I do? I remembered the words of a professor, he said; “think big, start small, act now”. From the words, I knew that something must be done now is to start from myself, from instilled a sense of caring, and then execute the seven stars of pharmacy properly. The seven stars of pharmacy are caregiver, communicator, decision maker, teacher, lifelong learner, leader and manager.

With understanding the duties and obligations of pharmacists in early, we can understand that the dispensary is one place of pharmacist to give their dedication for the people. The people come to the dispensary is not only to buy drugs but also they need advice about their health.

The most important of pharmaceutical care is how a pharmacist gives their care. A pharmacist gives care is not only with mind but also with heart. I am sure if all pharmacists understanding this matter, pharmaceutical care will good and same in Indonesia. Let's do pharmaceutical care now, starting from our self, and get more health Indonesia than before.
